EDIE CUMMINGS
2007 PERSY AWARD RECIPIENT
While Edie Cummings didn’t start out in the Human
Resource profession, she has always worked with
personnel matters in her “past” life including
working as a paralegal handling workers compensation
and medical malpractice. In her current position as
Human Resource Administrator for the Biomedical
Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana, where
she has been for the past fifteen years, she handles
all the daily aspects of human resource work.
Edie joined the local SHRM chapter in 2001 and has
worked to promote and help grow our chapter. She has
served our chapter as Secretary, Treasurer,
President-Elect, President and Past President. Under
her leadership the chapter received a Superior Merit
Award and the Chapter Champion Award. Edie has also
served on the State Council as Workforce Readiness
Director, and has served as District I Director in
2007 and 2008. Edie earned her certification as a
Professional in Human Resources in May 2001. In May
2002 Edie was asked by the HRCI (Human Resources
Certification Institute) to sit on the Angoff
Testing Panel. The Angoff Panel formulates test
questions for the next years PHR test.
Edie, who was born in Hungary and became a U.S.
Citizen in 1968, continues to travel the world with
her husband, Benny, when she isn’t being entertained
by her three (soon to be four) grandchildren.
